Information for Parents

Q: I'm a parent. Can I use MassONE, too?
A: While MassONE does not offer accounts for parents, parents are encouraged to collaborate with and supervise their childrens' use of student MassONE accounts. There are many resources available within MassONE that parents and students can explore together. Ideally, students will be using MassONE in conjunction with their teachers and classmates, participating in discussion forums, sharing their work, and exploring learning resources.

Q: What can my child do with his or her MassONE account?
A: Information about how students can use MassONE is presented throughout this website. MassONE exists to enable teachers and students to share homework, projects, and resources, as well as to communicate with each other through discussion forums on educational topics.

Q: Can strangers gain access to my child in MassONE?
A: Absolutely not. MassONE is a private, secure, and authenticated community available only to Massachusetts-employed K–12 teachers, administrators and students. Each and every account holder is known to MassONE and there are absolutely NO anonymous accounts in the system. All communication and resource sharing in the system is directly traceable to individual account holders.

Q: Can students chat or share files with one another?
A: Students can only share files within the context of a supervised classroom with a teacher in charge. Students cannot share files with each other privately, and there is no chat or email capability for students inside MassONE.

Q: Does MassONE have any rules that my child needs to follow?
A: Teachers who are using MassONE with their students are responsible for teaching students about safe and responsible use of the Internet and MassONE. Teachers are also responsible for making sure that students understand MassONE's Acceptable Use Policy and Guidelines.
